New Chromatography
Column Design
In this new design, a unique resin-supporting device provides a fluid-tight
seal inside the periphery of standard laboratory glassware,
such as a fractionating column, to create an effective and inexpensive chromatography
column. Pressure may be applied to back flush a packed resin bed and re-establish
the desired column flow rate. The column also is easily cleaned, shortening the
time to prepare for another column run.
Market Assessment
The market for chromatography and resins is growing. Sufficient sales volume
should develop if this product can be sold at a low
enough price to discourage homemade copycats.
Patent Status
U.S. Patent No. 6,440,301 has
been issued on this invention.
Stage of Development
These columns are in use at the Savannah River Site.
