Dead Reckoning
Pedometer
This advanced technology tracks and records a person’s movement using small
sensors placed on the person’s feet. The person’s position is displayed
on a local monitor and is transmitted to a control center. The dead reckoning
pedometer was designed to enable the monitoring and direction of firefighters
inside a burning building.
Market Assessment
In addition to use by firefighters, other
uses include bloodhound searches/chases, undercover police work, survival training
for military personnel, and as an aid for the disabled.
Patent Status
U.S. Patent 6,549,845 has
been issued
on this invention.
Stage of Development
Proof-of-concept testing has been successfully completed. A graphical user
interface has been developed to display data in a form that simulates human
foot movements.
