SonoBeamer™ Sound
Wave Generator
The SonoBeamer device concentrates acoustic energy and emits it as a narrow beam
of single frequency sound waves.
The directed beam can induce cavitation within a medium along a specified path
or at a specific location.
Market Assessment
The SonoBeamer device should be effective for sonochemistry applications, for
cleaning of underwater structures, and for underwater communications. The
highly focused nature of the transmitted beam should render the signal
secure from interception.
Patent Status
U.S. Patent No. 6,489,707 has
been issued on this technology.
Stage of
Development
A proof-of-principle SonoBeamer device has been designed and tested at the
Savannah River Site.
