H CanyonH Canyon
Located at SRS , H Canyon is the only hardened nuclear chemical separations plant still in operation in the U.S. The facility’s operations historically recovered uranium-235 and neptunium-237 from aluminum-clad, enriched-uranium fuel tubes from Site nuclear reactors and other domestic and foreign research reactors using a chemical separations process. Facility (DWPF) converts the

Water forms a rainbow during American Recovery and Reinvestment Act demolition work
at the Disassembly Basin in R Area at the Savannah River Site.
L Area Receiving BasinL Area Receiving Basin
Since 1996, the L Area Complex has received about 10,400 used
nuclear fuel (UNF) assemblies in 506 casks from off-site sources. Fuel types include high and low enriched uranium used fuel. The L Area Complex has received and handled about 10 different UNF transportation casks weighing up to 65,000 pounds. READ FACT SHEET
