Thomas K. BarnesMr. Barnes is a retired Deputy Director of the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree and is a member of the Palmetto A’s, a Model A Ford Club. He resides in Hopkins, South Carolina.
Donald BridgesDr. Bridges retired from the Department of Energy in 2002 after 30 years of service as a nuclear engineer at the Savannah River Site (SRS), where he was Director of Nuclear Materials Management. He is active in several civic organizations and a Naval Reserves Reunion group. He holds a Doctorate and Master’s in Nuclear Engineering and resides in North Augusta, South Carolina. He serves as the Chair of the SRS Citizens Advisory Board (CAB)
Edward BurkeMr. Burke is the Director of Technical Services and Product Development with the Glit-Microtron Company, a manufacturer of cleaning products. He has a Master’s in Business Administration, and Bachelor’s and Master’s in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Burke resides in Waynesboro, Georgia.
Louie ChavisMr. Chavis is a retired Journeyman Lineman from SCANA Electric. He currently serves as the Chief of the Beaver Creek Indians and is the Commissioner of the South Carolina Indian Development Council. Mr. Chavis is also the Commissioner of the Commission for Minority Affairs, and is a member of several Masonic lodges (Jamil Temple, Scottish Rite, and Springdale Lodge). He is interested in protecting the environment for tribal people who live near the Savannah River Site. Mr. Chavis resides in Lexington, South Carolina.
Mary E. DavisMs. Davis is an Administrative Assistant and Human Resource Coordinator with Dayco Products, a rubber manufacturing company. Ms. Davis has previously worked with the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site from 1991 to 1997 and with the Department of Treasury (Atlanta, GA) in 1998. She holds an Associate of Science degree and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business. She is a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a women’s Masonic chapter, as well as the University of South Carolina Alumni Association. Ms. Davis would like to play a role in helping communities with environmental decision making. She resides in Blackville, South Carolina.
Kathe GoldenMs. Golden is a retired school counselor. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, a Master’s in Special Education and a Master’s in School Counseling. She is affiliated with the Richmond County Retired Educators Association. Ms. Golden resides in North Augusta, South Carolina, and is interested in becoming more involved in her community. She was appointed to the board in March 2008.
Rose HayesDr. Hayes is retired from her work in human engineering. She is a member of the League of Women Voters and the Aiken Symphony Guild. Dr. Hayes is interested in alternative energy sources and the environment, and shares the civic interest of Aiken and surrounding counties. She has several academic certifications and degrees related to human engineering, including a Master of Science in Social Science, a Professional Ergonomics Certification, and a Doctorate in Anthropology. She resides in Aiken, South Carolina.
Stanley HowardMr. Howard has been a welder for many years and owns a farm adjacent to the SRS boundary. He has worked at SRS since 1988 and currently works for Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, the Site’s Management and Operating (M&O) contractor, as a welding engineer in the Material and Science Technology Department. Mr. Howard holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. He is a member of the American Welding Society and served as president of the Astronomy Club of Augusta. Mr. Howard resides in Windsor, South Carolina.
Travis T. JohnsonMr. Johnson is currently the President and CEO of T Johnson & Associates Consulting Group. He has served as a director and organizer in several political campaigns between 2002 and 2008. Mr. Johnson has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and has earned a Certificate of Achievement in Technology from NASA. Mr. Johnson resides in Aiken, South Carolina.
Cleveland LatimoreMr. Latimore works with the Community Cardiovascular Council and has worked in community health for 17 years. Mr. Latimore chairs the 100 Black Men of Savannah’s Health and Wellness Committee. He is Vice-Chair of the Black Male High Blood Pressure Coalition and the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer with the Savannah Coalition. He resides in Pooler, Georgia.
Denise LongMs. Long is employed as a Senior /Information Management Specialist with Savannah River Remediation, the liquid waste contractor at SRS. She is Chair of the Williston- Elko Middle School Improvement Council and a member of the Williston Area Runners/Walkers Club. Ms. Long holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Personnel Management. She resides in Williston, South Carolina.
Clinton NangleMr. Nangle is a managing partner of Overbrook Farms, LLC, an equestrian lifestyle community. He previously worked with a real estate company (CN&P) as an equestrian community consultant and serves as the Governor and Founding Chair of the Equine Welfare Commission. Mr. Nangle is interested in the ecology and land conservation at the Savannah River Site. He has a degree in English and resides in Wagener, South Carolina.
Marolyn ParsonDr. Parson retired in 2007 from the National Association of Home Builders, where she served as the Director of Environmental Policy. Her career as an environmental scientist included environmental research and university teaching. Since retiring, she has earned two “green” building certifications. She holds a Bachelor and Master of Arts in Education, and a Doctorate in Biology. Dr. Parson resides in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Harold F. SimonMr. Simon retired from the military in 1999 after 30 years of service. He has served as the President of the Belair Hills Estate Homeowner Association and the Greater Augusta Chapter of Blacks in Government between 2004 and 2007. He also chaired the Augusta Personnel Board from 2006 to June 2010. Mr. Simon holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, a Master’s in Human Resources, and several graduate certificates. Mr. Simon resides in Augusta, Georgia.
John SnedekerMr. Snedeker owns a consulting firm, Synergistic Dynamics, Inc., that assists Department of Defense (DoD) clients in obtaining financial guarantees under the Maritime Administration’s Loan Guarantee program. In 2007, he presented testimony to the Department of Energy regarding implementation of its Title XVII loan guarantee program authorized by Title XVII of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Several of his recommendations were incorporated into the Final Rule. He is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers and an associate member of the American Bar Association, Section on Public Contract Law. He holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and a certificate in Government Contracting. He resides in Savannah, Georgia.
George SnyderMr. Snyder is a retired warden who served as a Chief Executive Officer of a correctional institution under contract to the Federal government, as well as a senior official with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He continues to be a member of the American Correctional Association and the Southern States Correctional Association. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Law Enforcement, a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a Certificate in Public Administration. Mr. Snyder resides in Aiken, South Carolina.
Elizabeth Skyye VereenMs. Vereen is employed as a Statistical and Research Analyst with the South Carolina Employment Security Commission-Labor Market Information. She is a Native American and is a board member and Tribal Chief of the Native American Advisory Committee. She is interested in bringing those viewpoints to the table. Ms. Vereen has Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. She resides in Gilbert, South Carolina.
Gerald WadleyDr. Wadley is the owner of a publishing firm, Finisterre Publishing, Inc, in Beaufort, South Carolina, and has 15 years of environmental consulting experience, dealing primarily with the impact of nuclear power plants on aquatic ecosystems. His consulting experience is not DOE or EM related. He is on the Board of Directors of the Beaufort Yacht and Sailing Club, where he also chairs the Buildings and Grounds and the Moorings Committees. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Doctorate in Radiation Ecology. Dr. Wadley resides in Beaufort, South Carolina.
Sarah WatsonMs. Watson is President of Watson & Associates Consultants and serves as a financial representative with a major insurance company. She is also a licensed insurance agent. Ms. Watson serves on the Richland County Accommodations Tax Board, Performing Arts Board, and the Central Midland’s Council of Government. She is actively involved in the arts in the Greater Columbia area and is a member of the Auntie Karen Foundation. Ms. Watson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and resides in Irmo, South Carolina. |
