Tech Days - February 12-13, 2008

SRS Technology Days serves the following important purposes:

  • Motivates students to be excited about some aspect of technology
  • Encourages students to seek careers in science fields such as chemistry, biology, engineering, or physics
  • Informs students why math and science are important
  • Enables the public to view technologies being developed at SRS
  • Provides opportunity for site employees to display SRS work activities to their families

SRS Technology Days 2008 will be held Tuesday, Feb. 12 and Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Fort Discovery National Science Center (http://www.nscdiscovery.org/) in Augusta, Ga. The exhibits will be on display both days from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., and during Tuesday's Family Night, from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Registration is required for middle school students who plan to attend SRS Technology Days during the day. The form is located under the "Teachers look here" link information section of this web page.

Family Night is open to the public and does not require registration.

Fort Discovery contains year-round scientific exhibits and demonstrations, and is easily accessible to the public from the Riverwalk (1 Seventh Street) in Augusta. A 350-person theater and a 150-person demonstration gallery enables SRS to host a variety of speakers and technology demonstrations. Each year, over 3,000 area school children, SRS employees and the public visit SRS Technology Days events. Each year, Technology Days is planned and organized by a committee, with help from coordinators who solicit exhibits from within their Business Unit. Exhibits will be categorized by National Math and Science Standards to inform teachers and students which school subjects they should study if they want to pursue a career demonstrated by an exhibit.

If you have further questions concerning SRS Technology Days, please contact John Iaukea, committee chair, at john.iaukea@srs.gov or 803-208-7145.
