Recovery At Work
The Recovery Act is at work at the R-Reactor Project within SRS. The R-Reactor is one of five production reactors at SRS. In 1953, it was the first reactor at the site to begin operations, producing plutonium and tritium for the national defense. Today, the reactor is one of two currently being permanently closed and made environmentally safe through the Recovery Act. Here are some snapshots of Recovery Act SRS employees at work.
