Community Giving

Since becoming the managing and operating contractor in 2008, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and its corporate parents have contributed more than $13 million throughout the Central Savannah River Area through corporate philanthropic contributions to charitable causes; education outreach investments in K-12 schools and regional 2- and 4-year colleges and universities; and economic development and community partnerships. More than 40 SRNS employees serve in leadership roles in regional civic and business organizations, and employees continue to generously contribute their own time and charitable donations to support their communities.

As part of SRNS’s commitment to the community, we are soliciting local nonprofit organizations to submit funding requests in the following areas:

  • Education Initiatives
  • Health & Human Services
  • Arts & Culture
  • Civic & Economic Development

Request Guidelines

Financial support is provided to nonprofit organizations that have a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. Requests will be evaluated based, in part, on the following:

  • Programs that increase STEM education opportunities
  • Ability to address the needs of under-served populations
  • Improve the quality of life for people in the region surrounding SRNS
  • Initiatives that create an impact community-wide
  • Sponsorship by organizations in which SRNS employees and their families participate

On occasion, SRNS will consider requests from community organizations that fall outside of the above screening criteria if the community organization’s projects reflect SRNS’s mission, values and interests.

For agencies that provide services to children in need, preferential support is given to local or regional organizations.

The SRNS Community Giving program does not fund political organizations, fraternal associations, advertising, professional meetings or conferences, travel, film or television production or programming, overheads and administrative expenses, emergency funds, fairs or parades, individuals, contests, or extracurricular school activities.

SRNS also will only fund organizations that do not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sex, religion, national origin, disability, family status, receipt of public assistance, sexual orientation or gender identity.
